"For the Church of the 21st century, good ecology is not an optional extra but a matter of justice. It is therefore central to what it means to be a Christian"

Last Meeting

Our last meeting was on 11th July and we were delighted to welcome three new faces for our first meeting at the Reading Chaplaincy Centre which will hopefully be our regular meeting place from now on. These included Tamzin from All Saints, Wokingham, a long established EcoCongregation, and she shared with us the wonderful story of Transition Wokingham's community apple press. A good part of the meeting was taken up with discussing Park URC's forthcoming Panels and Pellets event to encourage other community building owners/users to follow their lead - details in the posting below.

We also did some planning for an evening to introduce Reading's new bishop to Reading's EcoCongregations, to hear his thoughts on the church's role in Creation Care and to invite other churches to join the journey - this event will be held at St John and St Stephen's Church, Orts Road on Thursday 17th November from 7.30 pm. Fairtrade refreshments will be available. If you would like to know more or to book a place at this please e-mail greeningstjohns@gmail.com.
